The Brick

If you like an eclectic atmosphere, good food and great drink specials then welcome to your new favorite bar, The Brick.

I went for dinner on a Monday evening and it just happened to be Open Mic Night...dinner AND a show! The opening act consisted of a husband and wife duo. Both wore overalls, neither shaved their face, wife made her own clothes, and the husband played a mean banjo....just to give you a mental picture. I was so entertained I almost forgot to order food.

I went with the house favorite, the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich consisted of grilled and marinated portabella mushrooms, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and roasted garlic goat cheese on a sourdough bun. It reminded me of a Philly cheesesteak with the shrooms as a replacement for the meat. Very delish. The artichoke hearts brought an extra tangy kick that I loved.

And halfway through my sandwich, the banjo-playing duo introduced their little boy, Bubba (not making this up), to the stage as he performed some sort of interpretive dance.

On to the fries....

By far the best sweet potato fries I've had. Crunchy outside, soft inside and the sea salt topped it all off.

Now I said that The Brick had amazing specials and they do. Here are a few:
If you like to celebrate Taco Tuesday, like I do, then go to The Brick for $.75 tacos, they even have veggie tacos for the vegetarians. Enjoy "Brickfest" on Saturday with DOLLAR Bloody Marys from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

I'm planning my next visit to try a Bloody, hopefully the Banjo Duo will be there with Bubba. I'll take pics.
