The Jacobson

There's a lot to like about Kansas City's newest eatery, The Jacobson.

Converted from a 4,000 square foot warehouse, The Jacobson offers a large outdoor bar and patio, open seating inside and a large indoor bar.

I attended the soft opening with coworkers and we were all impressed by the atmosphere, which gave off a chic and casual vibe.

Because they were not "officially" open for business, The Jacobson offered an abbreviated menu for those that attended the soft opening.

The marinated olives with lavosh crackers was a perfect starter. The olives were marinating in fresh orange zest, mint, chilis and olive oil. Lots of flavor, citrus yet salty...."citralty," if you will.

The Roasted Tomato Bisque was pleasant, it didn't have the typical creaminess of tomato bisque but the goat cheese melted into the soup making it even better.

I ordered an appetizer for lunch and thank goodness because the Citrus Sea Scallops dish is large and in charge! The scallops are served with greens, avocado and if you look really close you can see braised pistachios. Through the roasting process the pistachios take on a hint of coffee flavor, which may sound odd paired with the scallops, but it was so delicious.

Overall the things that impressed me most about The Jacobson was the atmosphere and the interesting mingling of flavors. I predict many more meals and happy hours to take place there.

Take a look at the cocktail menu, it's next on my to do list.
